THAI CULTURAL IMMERSION

Spiritual Gifts.
Immerse yourself in local day-to-day life and experience authentic Thai culture. Merit making is considered an important part of Buddhist practice. Thai people believe regularly making and gaining merit will reward them with happiness and a peaceful life.
They also believe that gaining merit will provide them with extra strength to overcome any obstacles or misfortunes they may encounter. Guests are invited to participate in this aspect of Thai culture by giving monks alms, feeding fish and setting birds free.

THE EXPERIENCE
Monk Alms
Make merit by providing alms to the monks of Wat Bote. It is believed that the motivation behind giving plays an important role in developing spiritual qualities.
Feeding Fish
Feeding fish offers a simple way of gaining merit and good luck. Feeding the fish means they too can bring life which represents the Buddhist cycle of life.
Setting Birds Free
Making merit by releasing birds from a cage to fly free. Thai Buddhists believe that they will gain good merit if they release birds at a temple. The idea is that you are doing good by giving a creature its freedom.
